Mariana Nikolova

Acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist

Mariana is an experienced Acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, specialising in Fertility, Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Her treatments incorporate a science-based approach of analysing diagnostic tests and nutritional supplements, with the traditional Chinese modalities of acupuncture, moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, Tui Na meridian massage, cupping and 5-element nutrition.

Mariana’s family has roots in both traditional and western medicine – her grandmother practised cupping and herbal medicine, whilst her parents are Chemistry professors at Sofia Medical University. This has left an impression on her practice, where she is guided by fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as well as modern scientific research. She keeps up with studies in the fields of Chinese Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Nutrition by regularly attending research symposiums and seminars.

Mariana received her education at Middlesex University London, a course established by professors from Beijing and Nanjing universities of TCM. She graduated from a 4-year BSc program in TCM in 2016, and in 2017 gained a Master’s degree.

Aside from years of practice spent at the University Acupuncture clinic, her degree programme included placements in the pain clinics of Whittington and Royal Free hospitals, as well as working in the community clinic for drug and alcohol addiction patients.

Since graduating, Mariana has been developing her skills and expertise in the field of Fertility. After completing a number of specialist courses, she has gained a qualification to join the Acupuncture Fertility Network. She works for the NHS as a Maternity Acupuncturist at Whittington Hospital. She has also volunteered as an acupuncturist for the World Medicine project at the Grenfell site.

Mariana offers treatments for male and female infertility and recurrent miscarriages, pregnancy and postpartum-related conditions, as well as PMT and PMDD and menopausal syndrome. She is also experienced in pain management and musculoskeletal conditions, insomnia, stress and anxiety disorders, digestive disorders, migraines, and aiding smoking cessation. Her treatments are tailored to the individual, analysing all aspects of your health and lifestyle, in order to understand and treat the root cause of the problem.
