Samara Reid

Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbalist, Tui Na Practitioner
and reflexologist.

Queens Park

Sammy graduated in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in 1995 from the London Academy of Oriental medicine where she trained with the Vietnamese Buddhist monk and master of Chinese Medicine, Tinh Thong Nguyen. She then went on to qualify as a reflexologist in 1996.

After qualifying in acupuncture, Sammy went on to work at The Gateway Clinic a busy NHS clinic, where she continues to work to this day. At The Gateway, Sammy sees numerous patients, presenting with a wide variety of conditions. She also has a private practice at The Hale Clinic on Harley Street.

Sammy initially trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and 5-Element Acupuncture, but she later went on to complete a 3-year course with Stephen Birch in Japanese-style acupuncture – Toyohari, Meridian Therapy and Shonishin. Japanese acupuncture provides a very gentle but powerful alternative to Chinese acupuncture, which she may incorporate into her practice, according to the individuals needs. This style of acupuncture is often practiced on children as it is very gently and can even be used without needles.

To complement her acupuncture practice, Sammy also trained in Tui Na, a form of Chinese medical massage, with Chinese doctors at the Asante Academy. She may incorporate this into her acupuncture treatments, especially in the case of musculoskeletal conditions, or she may use it as a stand-alone treatment.

Sammy is a practitioner of reiki and Qi Gong, and she will often advise patients on Qi Gong healing techniques to promote their health. She may also give dietary advice, having completed various courses in Ayurvedic oriental, dietary therapy. Sammy’s vast knowledge of ancient healing systems allows her to draw on a number of therapeutic principles to customise a unique treatment suitable to the individual needs of her patients.

Sammy has a special interest in women’s health. She has a pursued extensive postgraduate studies in the field of gynaecology, fertility and obstetrics with Trevor Wing, Naava Carmen, Jane Lyttleton and Zeta West. She is passionate about helping couples and individuals on their fertility journey and supporting them through IVF and pregnancy. Sammy is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine.
